Sustainability is a core value at Anchored Steel. We are SSC (Sustainable Steel council) certified, which means we have met the high standards of sustainability set by industry leaders committed to the circular economy and New Zealand’s low-emissions future.
The Steel we use is an ideal “circular economy” material. This means we reduce the burden on nature by ensuring the resources we use remain in use for as long as possible through use, reuse, remanufacture and recycling. Our steels are engineered to precise specifications which results in minimal on-site wastage. Steel is also non-toxic, which minimises health and safety risk in the workplace.
Birds can be a significant pest for any shed. Birds can cause many problems such as corrosion, the spread of diseases, insects, and parasites. One of the greatest benefits and reasons why we use hot-rolled steel is they help prevent birds from nesting in your shed. Hot-rolled box section steel makes it impossible for birds to nest in your steel shed which helps drastically reduce the number of birds appearing near your shed.
HOT ROLLed FACTS
Hot rolled steel is a type of steel that has been through the rolling process at high temperatures (above its recrystallization temperature), usually above 920 degrees Celsius. Hot rolled steel exhibits greater formability and workability making it easier to handle in subsequent operations than if you were working with unprocessed steel.
Hot rolled steel has greater workability. As the hot rolling process occurs at elevated temperatures, the steel is a lot easier to form and shape.
Steel above recrystallisation temperature can also be made into much larger sizes, therefore much larger structures.
Hot-rolled steel is very sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Hot rolled steel is leak-proof, bird-proof, and it can stand up better against strong winds.
Steel can be reused, recycled, and repurposed (i.e. Steel has multiple lives).
The most popular shapes of steel are hot rolled (UC, UB, SHS, RHS, PFC, flats).
Hot-rolled steel is acknowledged as the world's most recycled material. In fact, it is 100 percent recyclable over and over again, without product degradation.
Time: Because of its ease of manipulation, many projects using hot rolled steel will take much less time than those with cold rolled steel.
